Disassembly and inspection of the original oil filter after the
engine's first 3000 miles.

This is a sample of what drained out of the
filter. Some of these particles were ferrous metal and attracted
to a magnet but most of it is dirt and sand. Also recovered from inside
the filter was a fairly large metal shaving (~1/2" long),
unfortunately it was lost before it could be photographed.
